Lidl issues nationwide recall of bacon lardons in France, do not consume them
Lardons sold under the Saint Alby brand and distributed in all Lidl stores in France are being recalled after a manufacturing defect was identified, according to the consumer alert platform Rappel Conso. The issue concerns an insufficient salt content in the product, which means it may not be properly preserved. Authorities warn that the products were manufactured and/or stored under conditions that do not provide satisfactory food safety guarantees, and they may therefore pose a health risk to consumers. For this reason, customers are advised not to eat the lardons.
The recall applies specifically to smoked bacon lardons made with beech wood, packaged in two 100 g trays. The product was sold between April 23, 2026 and May 29, 2026. The affected lots are 31765/6062710, 31764/6063573, 31765/6063827, 31765/6063846, 31765/6067706, 31765/6067733 and 31765/6068959. All of the recalled products carry barcode 20021153, and their use-by dates range from May 27, 2026 to June 2, 2026.
Customers who purchased the affected lardons may be eligible for a refund. Refund requests must be submitted by Saturday, June 13, 2026. Consumers are encouraged to check the package details carefully before using the product.
This is not the first recall involving Saint Alby bacon products. In late January 2026, Saint Alby bacon matchsticks were also recalled because of undeclared allergenic substances. The latest case adds to concerns about product safety and labeling in the brand’s bacon range.
Consumers who have bought the recalled lardons should not consume them and should follow the refund procedure before the deadline.
