Legendary ’70s Rock Band Shares Exciting Update After Tour Cancellation

The Rolling Stones have announced a new collaboration with FIFA tied to the 2026 World Cup and the band’s upcoming album, Foreign Tongues. The announcement was shared on Instagram and marks an unusual crossover between one of rock’s most recognizable bands and football’s biggest global event, which runs from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
As part of the partnership, Foreign Tongues, due out on July 10, will be released in three limited-edition vinyl versions: a Host Nation Edition, a Winners’ Circle Edition and a FIFA World Cup 2026 Edition. Each variant features different artwork inspired by the band’s signature imagery alongside FIFA design elements. Rolling Stones and FIFA branded clothing is also expected to be released soon as part of the collaboration.
The project also includes music. Rolling Stones contributed a special remix of “In The Stars,” created with producers Andrew Watt and Cirkut, for the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 album. The album features a wide range of international artists, including Shakira, Daddy Yankee and Shenseea, LISA and Anitta, Ava Max and BIA, 21 Savage, Nato Cano and French Montana, Major Lazer, Nelly Furtado and Davido, among others.
FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai said in a press release that the World Cup is “the biggest show on earth,” and described the partnership as a way to bring the energy and identity of one of music’s most iconic bands into the tournament experience. He said the collaboration reflects the connection between football and music and the memorable moments they create for fans around the world.
The Rolling Stones, formed in London in 1962, remain one of the most influential rock bands in history. The group, led by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood today, built its legacy through a sound that blends blues, pop and psychedelic rock. Over more than six decades, the band has released 32 studio albums, with their most recent before this one being Hackney Diamonds in 2023.
The band had also been expected to tour the United Kingdom and Europe this year, though reports indicated the plans were later cancelled, with sources saying Keith Richards could not proceed because of arthritis. Despite that, Jagger recently told fans at a Brooklyn listening event hosted by Conan O’Brien that he would “love to tour” the new album and hoped to do so as soon as possible.
Fans can already pre-order Foreign Tongues and the FIFA collaboration vinyl editions through the band’s official website. The album will be available on streaming platforms on July 10, adding another major release to a partnership that blends classic rock, global sport and limited-edition merchandise for the World Cup season.
