Katy Perry Channels Explosive Feud Into New Music Release

Katy Perry has revived a long-dormant celebrity feud with an unexpected twist: a new music collaboration with Chief Keef. More than a decade after the rapper lashed out at Perry online over her criticism of his song “Hate Bein’ Sober,” the two have reunited for a remix of Perry’s 2013 track “Legendary Lovers.” The collaboration surprised fans and quickly gained attention after old screenshots from their 2013 exchange resurfaced alongside new videos and photos of the pair together.

The renewed buzz began when fan footage showed Perry meeting Chief Keef in a parking lot, sparking speculation that they were working on music together. Perry later confirmed the collaboration on Instagram, describing the meeting as their “legendary link up” and sharing images ahead of the remix’s release. The footage showed the two artists in conversation, with Chief Keef giving Perry a one-armed hug. Perry also posted behind-the-scenes clips that appeared to show them smoking together and working on music.

Their feud dates back to May 2013, when Perry publicly mocked a song she had heard on the radio, writing that hearing “I Hate Bein’ Sober” gave her “serious doubt for the world.” Chief Keef responded with a string of aggressive tweets aimed at Perry, including a threat to “smack” her. Reports at the time also said he had considered releasing a diss track, though it never appeared. The exchange became one of the more unusual pop-rap feuds of the early 2010s.

Perry later tried to calm the situation by clarifying that she had not meant to insult Chief Keef personally. She apologized publicly on Twitter and explained that she had heard several artists on the song and did not realize it was him specifically. Chief Keef then softened his response and apologized as well. Perry followed with a message saying she was “a lover not a hater,” which effectively ended the online conflict.

More than ten years later, Perry is now revisiting that history for the remix rollout. In her social media posts, she included screenshots of the old apology tweets, turning the past feud into part of the promotion for the new release. The updated content also showed Perry wearing a red zip-up hoodie that matched Chief Keef’s, along with promotional shots of her in a leather outfit and sheer top.

The collaboration has fueled intense reactions online. Fans have celebrated the apparent end of the decade-old beef, while others focused on the chemistry between the two in the parking lot and behind-the-scenes clips. Many comments joked about an “enemies to lovers” narrative. Perry had previously teased the project in a TikTok video, joking that she was “attempting to summon Mr. Keef.” The remix also adds a nostalgic layer to Perry’s catalog, since “Legendary Lovers” originally appeared on her 2013 album “Prism.”
