Has Nancy Guthrie Been Found? Latest Updates on Savannah Guthrie’s Missing Mother

Savannah Guthrie and her family have been living through an ongoing crisis since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, disappeared on January 31, 2026, after she was last seen outside her Tucson, Arizona, home. More than three months later, Nancy has still not been found, and the case remains under active investigation by local authorities and the FBI. Savannah has publicly thanked law enforcement for their work and asked anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. She has also used social media to share emotional messages of support for her mother, including a Mother’s Day tribute in May 2026 in which she said the family would never stop searching.

Nancy Guthrie is 84 years old. According to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, she was not in good physical health at the time of her disappearance, but he said she had no cognitive issues and was alert and of sound mind. Authorities quickly escalated the search after describing the scene at her Tucson home as deeply concerning. Sheriff Nanos said the home was treated as a crime scene and stated that Nancy did not leave on her own. Search efforts included drones, airplanes, and helicopters, while investigators reviewed surveillance footage, forensic evidence, and DNA analysis.

Law enforcement has not ruled out foul play. Reports later said blood was found inside the home, and Nancy’s pacemaker reportedly stopped syncing with her Apple devices on February 1, raising additional concerns. The FBI joined the investigation on February 3. On February 4, Savannah and her siblings posted an emotional video pleading for Nancy’s safe return.

In the weeks that followed, police detained multiple people for questioning, but no suspect has been identified and no one remains in custody. Authorities also released surveillance footage showing a masked person wearing black gloves on Nancy’s property. DNA found on a pair of black gloves was later ruled out as a match to anyone in the national crime database. On April 16, investigators examined a rootless hair sample, but the FBI said this was not new evidence and that the material had been under review for some time.

The search for Nancy also drew major public attention because of an alleged ransom note. TMZ reported receiving a note demanding millions in Bitcoin, and the FBI later said a ransom demand had been sent to multiple media outlets with a deadline. Officials have not confirmed that any ransom payment was made.

Savannah and her family have repeatedly urged the public to revisit possible clues, especially around January 31 and the early morning of February 1. In May 2026, authorities said they were getting closer to solving the case and confirmed that human remains found near Nancy’s home were unrelated. Savannah returned to Today on April 6, 2026, after a leave of absence, and briefly stepped away again on May 6 before returning the next day.
