Google Cuts Price of AI Plus Plan and Doubles Storage

Google is reducing the price of its Google AI Plus subscription, cutting the monthly cost from $7.99 to $4.99 and doubling included storage from 200GB to 400GB. The change is aimed at making Gemini AI features more accessible while giving subscribers more value for the same plan tier.

The Google AI Plus plan first launched in January 2026 as a lower-cost option for users who wanted access to Google’s Gemini AI tools without paying for the company’s higher-priced AI Pro plan. At launch, the plan included access to Gemini 3 Pro, Nano Banana Pro and Deep Research, but with stricter usage limits than the premium tier.

With this latest update, Google is expanding the plan’s benefits beyond price and storage. The subscription now also includes AI-powered email tools, a new Daily Brief agent inside the Gemini app that can summarize a user’s upcoming day, and access to Gemini Omni, Google’s newest AI model for generating video from different types of input.

The updated pricing was shared by Vikas Kansal, Google’s Product Lead focused on Gemini AI subscriptions, in a post on June 8, 2026. He said the new monthly price is $4.99, or the local equivalent, and confirmed that the plan’s storage allowance has been doubled.

For users already subscribed to Google AI Plus, the extra storage is expected to appear within the next few days, while the lower price will be reflected on the next billing cycle. New customers can sign up for the revised plan through Google’s website.

The move comes after Google I/O 2026, and it reflects the company’s continued push to make its AI ecosystem more attractive to a wider audience. By lowering the entry price and adding more storage and features, Google appears to be positioning AI Plus as a stronger value option for users who want everyday access to Gemini-powered tools, cloud storage and productivity assistance.

While the usefulness of AI features can vary from person to person, the combination of a lower monthly fee and more included storage makes the updated plan significantly more competitive. Google is clearly using the price cut and added perks to encourage more users to try its subscription services and engage more deeply with its AI products.
