Elle Trailer: Elle Woods Faces a Life-Changing Move Away From Los Angeles

Prime Video has released the first trailer for Elle, the upcoming prequel series to Legally Blonde, offering an early look at Elle Woods’ life before Harvard. The series stars Lexi Minetree as a younger Elle Woods, with June Diane Raphael playing her mother, Eva, and Tom Everett Scott as her father, Wyatt. The ensemble also includes Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, and Amy Pietz. James Van Der Beek appears in a recurring role in what is described as one of his final projects.
Set in 1995, Elle follows Elle Woods during her high school years, long before she became the confident, pink-loving law student audiences met in the original Legally Blonde films. The story shows Elle navigating the pressures of adolescence, including complicated friendships, forbidden romance, and fashion missteps, while also discovering more about herself. Her relationship with her family, especially her mother, plays an important role in the series and serves as an emotional anchor as she faces challenges. According to the series description, these experiences help shape the character into the version of Elle Woods fans know from the films.
The trailer highlights the tone and style of the show, positioning it as a coming-of-age story that blends humor, heart, and self-discovery. Rather than focusing on law school or courtroom drama, the series explores the early life experiences that helped define Elle’s personality, confidence, and resilience. The prequel aims to show how her strong sense of identity was formed during her teenage years and how those formative moments contributed to her later journey.
Elle is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on July 1, 2026. In addition to the series launch, Prime Video has already renewed the show for a second season, signaling strong confidence in the project before its debut. The release comes as part of ongoing interest in the Legally Blonde franchise, which remains popular with audiences more than two decades after the original film’s release.
The first-look trailer and images present the series as a fresh expansion of the Legally Blonde universe while keeping the spirit of the original character intact. With a younger cast, a 1990s setting, and a focus on family and teen life, Elle is positioned to tell the origin story of one of the most recognizable characters in modern comedy.
