Dhurandhar 2 Box Office Update: Even After 11 Weeks, Ranveer Singh Film Fails to Beat Pushpa 2 Record — Here’s Why

Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 has emerged as one of the biggest box office successes in Indian cinema, crossing major records over 78 days of theatrical run. The film, released with paid previews on March 18, has reportedly earned ₹1,375.11 crore gross and ₹1,149.02 crore net in India, while its worldwide gross collection has reached ₹1,813.11 crore. On its 78th day, it still managed ₹7 lakh from 174 shows, though its theatrical momentum has now begun to fade after its June 4 OTT release on JioHotstar.

Despite its historic performance, Dhurandhar 2 could not surpass Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule in the domestic market. Pushpa 2 ran for only 65 days in theatres, yet it collected ₹1,471.10 crore gross and ₹1,234.10 crore net in India, which remained ahead of Dhurandhar 2’s domestic earnings. The film also performed strongly in the South, where local-language cinema and regional stars continue to dominate the market. That advantage proved crucial in keeping Pushpa 2 ahead in India overall.

A major reason for the gap was the South Indian box office. Pushpa 2 reportedly earned ₹945.75 crore from the Hindi belt and another ₹511.70 crore from the South, including ₹320.23 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu alone. Dhurandhar 2 performed exceptionally well in Hindi-speaking regions, but it lagged behind in South markets, where dubbed Hindi films often get fewer shows and limited theatre access. Audience connect also played a role: Pushpa 2 blended action with culturally familiar music, dance, and mass appeal, while Dhurandhar 2 was seen as more rooted in North Indian storytelling and style.

The film also failed to overtake Pushpa 2 in worldwide opening weekend earnings. Pushpa 2 made ₹795 crore in its opening weekend, while Dhurandhar 2 crossed ₹750 crore, making it the biggest Hindi opener but still falling short globally. One reported factor was a ban in Gulf countries, where Indian films usually earn a significant share of overseas revenue. That restriction affected its international total, while Pushpa 2 had a smoother release abroad.

Even so, Dhurandhar 2 has set a milestone of its own. It has become the second-highest-grossing Indian film worldwide after Dangal, which remains the all-time leader with ₹2,070 crore. With ₹1,813.11 crore worldwide, Dhurandhar 2 has outpaced major titles like Baahubali 2, Pushpa 2, RRR, KGF 2, Jawan, Pathaan and Kalki 2898 AD in global earnings.

The film’s budget is reported at ₹225 crore, and its domestic profit has reached ₹924.02 crore, giving it an ROI of 410.68. Even though it trails some recent ultra-high-ROI films, Dhurandhar 2 remains one of the most commercially powerful Indian films ever released.
