After Turning Down Globo’s Invitation, Luciana Gimenez Appears on Rival Network’s Show – Notícias da TV

Luciana Gimenez will make a special live appearance on SBT’s “Domingo Legal,” hosted by Celso Portiolli, shortly after reports emerged that she turned down an invitation from Globo. During the program, the former RedeTV! host is expected to discuss key moments from her television career, along with her upcoming professional plans, according to a press release distributed by the network.

Gimenez is currently away from television after the end of her contract with RedeTV!. She hosted “Superpop” on the Osasco-based broadcaster for 25 years before leaving the show in January 2026. Since then, she has not had a fixed program and has been using the break to rest while considering her next move in television.

Behind the scenes, Gimenez is negotiating with Band for a reality show expected to premiere between August and September. Details about the format have not yet been revealed, but the project appears to be one of the main reasons she decided not to accept Globo’s offer.

Globo reportedly wanted Gimenez in the cast of the next season of “Dança dos Famosos,” one of the broadcaster’s most popular entertainment formats, which is scheduled to air in the second half of the year. Because of her ongoing talks with Band, she declined the invitation.

This would not be Gimenez’s first appearance on a Globo variety show. While she was still under contract with RedeTV!, she previously appeared on “Domingão” at the invitation of Luciano Huck. Last year, she took part in an episode of the “Batalha do Lip Sync” segment, competing against Rodrigo Faro. Faro later joined “Dança dos Famosos” on the same program.

Luciana Gimenez became nationally known in Brazil through variety and audience-driven television. In addition to “Superpop,” she has hosted the talk show “Luciana By Night” from 2012 to 2021, as well as the game shows “Mega Senha” from 2010 to 2024 and “Operação Cupido” in 2022.

Her upcoming appearance on SBT adds another chapter to her long presence in Brazilian entertainment television, as she continues to explore new opportunities after a major transition in her career.
