Toy Story 5 Director Denies Taylor Swift Will Have an End-Credits Song, but Swifties Aren’t Convinced
Rumors are circulating that Taylor Swift may be involved with Pixar’s upcoming Toy Story 5, despite a partial denial from the film’s director, Andrew Stanton. Speculation began in May when Swift fans noticed a brief countdown on her website featuring blue skies and white clouds reminiscent of Andy’s room, along with her recent choice of clothing colors associated with the Toy Story films. That was enough to send Swifties into overdrive, especially given Swift’s history of closely managing hidden clues and visual easter eggs around her projects.
The rumors gained more attention after Stanton commented on the possibility of Swift appearing on the soundtrack. He said the filmmakers had recently watched a mixed version of the movie and that the song playing over the end of the film was not by Taylor Swift. While that statement seemed to shut down theories about Swift contributing the closing track, many fans interpreted it differently, arguing that it did not rule out a song being used elsewhere in the movie. In other words, the denial appeared to be limited rather than absolute, leaving room for more speculation.
The conversation intensified when Pixar added fuel to the fire with a promotional billboard for Toy Story 5 featuring the letters “TS” against a cloudy sky background. Pixar also shared the image with an animation of Jessie dancing and a caption that many fans took as a reference to Swift’s hit “Shake It Off.” For Swifties, this was enough to keep the theory alive and even strengthen it. Social media reactions quickly followed, with fans posting messages suggesting that Swift’s involvement was more likely than ever and connecting the imagery to her songs, style, and public persona.
Although no official confirmation has been given, the idea of a Taylor Swift collaboration continues to spread because it fits the scale of the film and the kind of high-profile casting Pixar has already assembled. Toy Story 5 includes Conan O’Brien as a potty-training toy character, Bad Bunny as Pizza With Sunglasses, and Tom Hanks returning as Woody. The film already mixes beloved legacy characters with major celebrity additions, making a surprise musical contribution from Swift seem plausible to many fans.
At the same time, the report notes that Swift is also reportedly preparing to marry Travis Kelce this summer, which has only added to the speculation that she might step back from music temporarily. But given Swift’s well-known tendency to stay creatively active, fans are not ruling out the possibility of new music tied to the movie.
For now, the rumor remains unconfirmed. Stanton’s comments suggest that the song heard at the end of the film is not Swift’s, but they do not fully address whether she may appear elsewhere in the soundtrack. Pixar’s playful marketing has only deepened the mystery. The truth will become clear when Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19.
