Trace Cyrus Slams Sister Brandi Over Alleged Mold-Infested Rental Home

Trace Cyrus is publicly accusing his sister Brandi Cyrus of renting him what he described as a “mold infested” house and refusing to refund his money. In an Instagram Stories rant shared Friday, the 37-year-old former Metro Station frontman said he had tried to remain patient but was frustrated by what he called a long list of problems with the property. He showed video of a hole in the ceiling and claimed the home had mold issues, poor water access, and other unresolved damage since he moved in.
According to Trace, the living conditions became so difficult that he only “just got clean water” recently and had been sleeping on an air mattress downstairs. He also said the housing problems were affecting his work, claiming he could not release his album or music this summer as planned because he now has to move again. Trace further alleged that Brandi did not want to return his money, and he directed harsh criticism at multiple members of his family, calling the situation “disgusting” and expressing anger over how he says he has been treated.
A representative for Brandi Cyrus did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The outburst is the latest in a long-running pattern of public family conflict involving the Cyrus family. Trace has often spoken openly about tensions with his father, Billy Ray Cyrus, especially amid the family’s years-long feud that became public after Tish Cyrus filed for divorce from Billy Ray in 2022. In June, Trace criticized Billy Ray again after the country star traveled to Italy for a fashion event with girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley.
In that post, Trace accused his father of being more interested in fame than family and said he was upset that Billy Ray allegedly did not come to Los Angeles for the funeral of their grandmother, Mammie, while he was still married to Tish. Trace also claimed that one of Billy Ray’s children had arranged and paid for a private jet for him, but said the singer still did not attend. He called Billy Ray “the lamest man ever to walk planet earth” and said he was embarrassed to have ever looked up to him.
The Cyrus family has at times been deeply divided in public, with several members reportedly estranged during the height of the fallout. However, some healing has taken place in recent years. Miley Cyrus addressed the family strain in 2025, saying the group repaired their relationships without therapy. On Monica Lewinsky’s Reclaiming podcast, she described the period as a “really difficult … dark decade” and said that at one point half the family was not speaking to one another. Miley also noted that she felt loyalty to her mother, Tish Cyrus, during the divorce turmoil. Tish has since remarried actor Dominic Purcell.
Trace’s latest remarks add another chapter to a family drama that has repeatedly played out in public, blending personal disputes, housing claims, and ongoing resentment over old wounds.
