Pete Davidson Calls Kim Kardashian “Superhuman” on Netflix Show
In her 2020 essay collection No One Asked For This, Cazzie David, the daughter of Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David, reflected on her two-and-a-half-year relationship with Pete Davidson and described the emotional strain it placed on her. The pair began dating in 2016, and David wrote that they initially seemed like “kindred spirits.” As the relationship progressed, however, she said Davidson’s mental health struggles became increasingly difficult for her to manage.
David recalled that arguments and crises could escalate very quickly, sometimes over minor issues, creating a constant sense of emotional instability. She wrote that episodes involving self-harm and suicide threats could emerge from trivial circumstances and become urgent in an instant, leaving her drained and overwhelmed. According to her account, once Davidson was in a better headspace, she often felt too exhausted to address what had happened and could only spend time recovering from the emotional fallout.
David said she ended the relationship during a family trip in 2018, but later had a moment of weakness and tried to reconcile with Davidson. She was surprised when he sent her a text message telling her he had moved on. Two days later, she said she saw an Instagram post from Davidson that appeared to confirm the breakup was final. In the photo, he had his hand over part of his face to display new finger tattoos, and the cursive lettering of her name that had once been on his ring finger was covered with black ink.
Her writing presents the relationship as intense, emotionally taxing, and ultimately painful, offering a candid look at the challenges she says she faced while dating the comedian.
