Tottenham can secure two major transfers immediately after clinching Premier League survival on the final day

Tottenham are set to strengthen their squad with two summer signings after securing Premier League survival on the final day of the season with a 1-0 victory over Everton. Joao Palhinha’s first-half goal proved decisive as Spurs moved to 41 points from 38 matches, ensuring their top-flight status for the 2026/27 campaign. The result was crucial, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side entering the match in 17th place and knowing a point would likely be enough to stay up because of their superior goal difference over the teams below them.
With survival confirmed, Tottenham are now expected to finalize deals for Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi. Robertson, 32, is set to leave Liverpool after nine years at Anfield and join Spurs on a free transfer when his contract expires in June. Reports indicate that a verbal agreement was already in place for the Scotland international to move to north London if Tottenham avoided relegation. The experienced left-back made more than 350 appearances for Liverpool and won several major honors, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League. His arrival would add leadership, depth and competition in a key position alongside Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence.
Robertson said farewell to Liverpool following their 1-1 draw with Brentford and is now expected to complete the formalities of his move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The transfer is seen as an important step in boosting Spurs’ defensive options with a proven Premier League performer who brings both quality and experience.
Tottenham’s second expected addition is Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi. The Argentine centre-back, 29, was reportedly in advanced talks with Spurs, with the move also dependent on the club preserving their Premier League status. Like Robertson, Senesi is due to become a free agent this summer when his contract at Bournemouth expires.
Senesi has been at Bournemouth since 2022 and has made more than 100 appearances for the club. He was a key figure in a strong season for the Cherries, who finished sixth in the Premier League and secured a place in the Europa League. His arrival would further reinforce Tottenham’s back line with another player who has established top-flight experience in England.
The prospective double signing reflects Tottenham’s intent to rebuild quickly after avoiding relegation and prepare for the next season with added experience at the back. Robertson and Senesi would bring Premier League know-how, defensive solidity and leadership to a squad looking to move on from a difficult campaign and compete more strongly in the season ahead.
