Ken Urker and Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Relationship: Inside Their Complicated Love Story

Ken Urker first connected with Gypsy Rose Blanchard in 2017 after watching Mommy Dead and Dearest, the documentary that brought her case to wider public attention. He wrote to her while she was serving time in Missouri, and what began as a support message quickly developed into long phone conversations and an emotional relationship. By 2018, during a prison visit, Urker proposed, and Blanchard accepted. Their engagement was serious but short-lived, ending by 2019 amid outside pressure, public scrutiny and the growing attention around Blanchard’s life. Blanchard later married Ryan Anderson in 2022 while still incarcerated.

Despite the breakup, Urker remained connected to Blanchard in some form over the years. That lingering link became important after Blanchard was released from prison in December 2023 following seven years of a 10-year sentence. She initially lived with Anderson, but the marriage collapsed in early 2024. In March 2024, Blanchard announced the separation and soon filed for divorce, setting the stage for Urker to re-enter her life.

At first, the renewed relationship was described as a friendship, but by late April 2024 Blanchard confirmed they were back together, saying their love for each other was undeniable. Reports said Blanchard’s stepmother helped bring them back in contact. Urker later explained that they reconnected in April, met in person in May and learned soon after that Blanchard was pregnant. He said he moved closer to her as they began planning their future together.

In July 2024, Blanchard announced that she was pregnant and about 11 weeks along. She dismissed speculation over the baby’s paternity, saying there had been no doubt that Urker was the father because she had ended her marriage to Anderson months earlier. She later shared prenatal paternity test results confirming Urker as the father.

The couple welcomed a daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, on December 28, 2024, one year after Blanchard’s release from prison. Urker announced the birth with a hospital photo showing Blanchard holding the newborn beside him. Their relationship continued to evolve into 2025, with reports that they had begun couples therapy in March and were later living together full time after Blanchard’s parole restrictions ended. Blanchard said later that year that if Urker proposed again, she would say yes.

From a prison pen pal connection in 2017 to parenthood and cohabitation years later, Urker has become a central figure in Blanchard’s post-release life. Their relationship has included separations, renewed commitment, pregnancy and a growing family, marking a dramatic personal journey that has continued to draw public attention.
