HGTV Stars Tarek and Heather El Moussa Feel Violated After Newport Beach Home Burglarized

Tarek and Heather El Moussa say they feel “violated” after their Newport Beach, California home was burglarized while they were away on a family vacation in Mexico. Authorities said police responded to a report of a residential burglary near the Mariners community after 6 p.m. on June 8, and believe the break-in happened sometime between June 6 and June 8. According to officials, unknown suspects entered the backyard, shattered a rear sliding glass door, and got inside the house before ransacking the primary bedroom closet and fleeing through the backyard and front yard.

The couple, known for their HGTV home-flipping shows, reported that jewelry was stolen from the residence. Police have not identified a suspect. Representatives for the couple did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Heather addressed the incident on Instagram Stories, writing that she was “disgusted” by “cruel heartless people” and saying that she and Tarek felt violated and deeply sad. She also assured followers that the family is safe and that the children are safe. The couple said they planned to take a short break before speaking more publicly about what happened.

Tarek and Heather have built a public profile through real estate and television, including HGTV’s “The Flip Off.” The burglary comes amid a busy family life for the pair, who welcomed their son Tristan in January 2023. Tarek also shares two children, Taylor and Brayden, with his ex-wife and former HGTV co-star Christina Haack.
