Geena Davis Joins Amazon MGM Action Film The Kellys in Exclusive Report

Academy Award winner Geena Davis has joined Amazon MGM’s action film The Kellys, directed by Brad Peyton and produced by Thunder Road Films. Her role has not yet been disclosed. She joins an ensemble cast that includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Liam Hemsworth, Kelsey Asbille, and Abby Elliott.

Written by Peyton and Tze Chun, The Kellys centers on Jack Kelly, a disgraced New York City police officer whose wife, Molly, is taken hostage by terrorists inside an old armory building. Forced into a desperate rescue mission, Jack must team up with the family he has long feared to save her. The project was recently acquired by Amazon MGM for streaming and will be released on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.

Davis is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars, with acclaimed performances in The Accidental Tourist, Thelma & Louise, and A League of Their Own. More recently, she appeared in Netflix’s sci-fi mystery series The Boroughs, alongside Alfred Molina, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, and Clarke Peters. The series, created by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews and executive produced by The Duffer Brothers, premiered on May 21.

In film, Davis’ recent credits include Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut Blink Twice and Fairyland, which was produced by Sofia Coppola. She will next appear in The Wrong Girls, a Neon comedy that also stars Kristen Stewart, Alia Shawkat, Seth Rogen, and LaKeith Stanfield.

The addition of Davis further expands the cast of The Kellys, which is shaping up as a high-profile action release for Amazon MGM and Prime Video. With Peyton directing and a cast led by Schwarzenegger and Hemsworth, the film brings together veteran stars and younger leads in a thriller built around family conflict, hostage danger, and survival.
