Pink reveals why she hasn’t made her Broadway debut yet

Pink explained why she has not yet appeared on Broadway, saying the reason is tied to her deep commitment to her family and her children. In a recent interview, the singer, who is set to host the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall on June 7, said she cannot imagine the demands of performing eight shows a week while also managing her kids’ daily routines. She described her answer as “stupid,” but said it reflects her real life and priorities.
The singer shares daughter Willow and son Jameson with her husband, Carey Hart. She said her children travel with her on tour, and she prefers a life where they stay together as a family. For her, a Broadway schedule would mean being away from them in a way that does not fit the way she lives and works now. Although she has not starred on Broadway, Pink’s music has already made its way into theater through the jukebox productions & Juliet and Moulin Rouge!, showing her connection to the stage remains strong.
Pink also revealed that she once had a chance to take on one of Broadway’s most iconic roles in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. She said she had been offered the opportunity to become the first female Hedwig, but turned it down at the time because she was busy touring in Germany. Looking back, she admitted it was a missed chance, but she also joked that she could still play the part someday, even as an older performer, when her children are grown.
Her affection for live performance began when she was young. Pink said her mother, who worked as an emergency room nurse, would save money throughout the year so the two of them could attend shows together. Those theater trips became a cherished tradition and helped shape Pink’s own artistic path. She recalled seeing productions such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables and La Cage aux Folles, and said those experiences left a lasting mark on her love of stage performance.
Pink’s connection to Broadway is also personal through her daughter Willow, who has shown interest in performing on the stage herself. The singer recently moved her family to New York so Willow could continue developing her acting, singing and dancing. Pink praised the 15-year-old’s talent and dedication, saying she believes her daughter has a real future in the field. She also noted Willow’s strong academic performance, joking that it sometimes makes her wonder if they are related.
As Pink prepares to host one of theater’s biggest nights, her comments highlight both her admiration for Broadway and the family responsibilities that have kept her from joining it as a performer.
