Cassandra See, Cherie Lim and Former Mediacorp Stars Show Support at Huang Yiliang’s Crab Bee Hoon Stall

Several former Mediacorp artistes have shown support for former actor-turned-hawker Huang Yiliang after his crab beehoon stall, Old Fisherman, at Circuit Road Hawker Centre was thrust into the spotlight following an alleged assault during a dispute with a neighbouring chicken rice stall owner. The incident reportedly happened last month and drew public attention to the hawker stall and its owner. In response, a group of familiar Singapore entertainment personalities visited Huang to stand by him.
A TikTok video posted on Bing Bing Biang Biang, a live streaming platform co-founded by actress Cassandra See, captured the group in a highly stylised and dramatic manner. The clip shows seven former Mediacorp artistes walking toward the camera in formation, evoking a cinematic team-assembly scene. The video then cuts to Huang, who appears smiling and relaxed. The production uses Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean as background music, and the editing adds to the theatrical tone with slow-motion walking and fist-pumping gestures.
The artistes featured in the clip were Cassandra See, Cherie Lim, Amy Koh, Celine Neo, Jason Oh, Joy Yak and Apple Hong. Joy Yak is also remembered by some viewers as Ji Ji from the hosting duo Ji Ji and Zha Zha. Henry Thia was also present at the gathering, although he left before the video was filmed.
The caption accompanying the video said, “We gathered our troops to support Brother Yiliang,” reinforcing the sense that the visit was intended as a show of solidarity. The clip quickly drew attention for its dramatic style as well as for the appearance of the well-known former celebrities rallying around Huang during a difficult period.
Huang Yiliang, who was once an actor before becoming a hawker, has remained in the public eye because of the long-running attention surrounding his stall and his personal controversies. The recent alleged assault incident brought renewed scrutiny to his business at Circuit Road Hawker Centre, making the visit from his former showbiz colleagues notable. Their appearance suggested a personal show of support rather than a formal public statement, and the video presented the moment as a playful but emphatic gesture of backing.
The scene highlighted both the continuing public fascination with former television personalities and the way social media has become a platform for public displays of support. By turning the visit into a stylised clip, the group transformed a casual meet-up into a memorable online moment that combined celebrity nostalgia, humour and solidarity.
The video’s dramatic tone, the coordinated walk, and the use of a famous pop song helped it spread attention across social platforms. At the center of it all was Huang, who was shown smiling as friends and former colleagues gathered around him. The post underscored that, despite the controversy surrounding his stall, he still has support from a network of familiar faces in Singapore’s entertainment scene.
